Championing Migrant Worker Rights in Thailand

Thailand, migrant workers, fish processing, unions, worker rights, Solidarity CenterAs a Burmese migrant in Thailand working at a fish processing facility, Aung Kyaw, like other migrant workers, was paid less than the minimum wage and endured unsafe working conditions.

In 2009, Aung and eight other migrant workers formed the Migrant Worker Rights Network (MWRN). Now, MWRN includes 6,700 members and hosts four offices, two in Thailand and two in Myanmar.

“Migrant workers needed to band together” to improve their working conditions, he says.
